In this workshop, at various points, the handler will be able to choose which end of a tunnel or which side of a jump their dog will take to make the course flow. However, if the dog does not take the end/side indicated, the handler must adjust their handling to continue. Sound like real life, doesn't it?

The See Saw

Agility workshop

Pt. 1 Introduction to the see saw:

This session is designed for dogs who have not worked on the see saw before, or who have very limited exposure to the see saw. Using a lower than usual height (about 12") we will work on comfort and running along a narrow board off the ground, tipping of the board and hearing the sound as it hits in front of them and as it reverberates when it lands behind them.

Pt. 2 Running short sets with the see saw:

This session is designed for dogs who HAVE had some see saw experience. They should be comfortable with a see saw at at least 12". We will focus on staying on the see saw until it lands, moving ahead to the next obstacle. We will also work on handler behavior such as rear and front crosses at the see saw.

Scenting

Scenting class participants can choose from one or both of the dates listed.

Each session will have 3 different courses to challenge your dog's scenting abilities.

Participants and their dogs will put their classroom skills to use in different and unique situations.

Only open to MDP clients currently enrolled in scenting or who have taken scenting in the past year.

Dogwalk Time!

Agility workshop

This workshop will focus on using the dogwalk in sequences. Ideally, dogs should have had some previous exposure to running on the dogwalk, but not necessarily at full height. Sequences will include skills such as turning away from the bottom of the dogwalk to another obstacle, approaching the dogwalk correctly, touch the contact area and comfort with the handler at a small distance.

Workshop enrollment is considered confirmed once your application, the copy of current vaccinations,

and payment has been received.

Proof of rabies vaccination is required, except for pups under the age of 12 weeks.

Proof of distemper / parvo is also required for Puppy Primer classes.

Speedway Simulation

In this simulation Speedway participants will get to practice run-throughs. Prep for competition or for anyone new, you'll get to experience what the setting is like.

The Speedway games have had some changes. These include the sending sections of Slingshot, and Pole Position which may include wraps in both directions. Whether you’ve done Speedway before or not, you’re sure to enjoy this.

Agility workshop

In this workshop, participants and their dog will work on short sets which will be sequenced in different ways. Your dog will run the set a couple of times one way, then we'll modify the sequence slightly and you will run your dog through the set using the new sequence.

This is great practice for staying connected with your dog and making sure they are paying attention.

Serpentines and Threadles!

In this workshop, participants will follow instructional sets using serpentines and threadles.

We will work on sequences that incorporate each skill.
